On August 8th, 2025, the Southwest Organizing Project’s (SWOP) Community Violence Intervention team, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), teamed up with CircEsteem and several community partners to host a joyful back-to-school event at Senka Park.
The gathering was more than just a chance to prepare for the school year—it was about bringing families together in a safe and welcoming space. Families received bookbags, school supplies, and connections to valuable community resources, ensuring young people are ready to start the year strong.
The afternoon was filled with fun and laughter as kids bounced in the inflatable house, enjoyed the gaming truck, and cooled off in the park’s open water system on a hot summer day. Free food was shared, neighbors reconnected, and the atmosphere was one of unity and celebration.
Events like these highlight CP4P and SWOP’s ongoing commitment to building safe spaces, supporting families, and creating moments of joy in the community.
