Parent Mentor Coordinators Meet with Alderwoman Jeylu B. Gutierrez Before Heading Back to Schools

On September 30th, 2025, the Parent Mentor Coordinators gathered for a special sit-down with Alderman Jeylu B. Gutierrez as they prepared to head back into schools for another year of service and support. The meeting was both a reflection and a call to action—an opportunity for coordinators to share the powerful impact of the Parent Mentor Program and the countless hours mentors dedicated to their schools and communities over the past year.

During the discussion, coordinators spoke about the relationships they’ve built within schools and the difference parent mentors make in creating welcoming, engaged learning environments for students. Alderman Gutierrez expressed her admiration for their commitment and offered valuable insight on how coordinators and mentors can connect with their local alderpersons to strengthen partnerships, gain access to community resources, and amplify their impact.

As the Parent Mentor Program enters a new school year, this exchange of ideas and encouragement serves as a reminder that collaboration between families, schools, and local leadership is key to sustaining strong, supportive communities.
