On November 4th, SWOP, Increase the Peace (ITP), Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) held a Day of the Dead Celebration at Marquette Park. This event saw many community members coming out with decorated altars, family portraits and sharing in the spirit of the Day of the Dead. Walgreens came out to offer free on the spot Flu shots while vendors attended, selling different homemade goods such as jewelry and candles. Seeing the different organizations and community members come together to take in the live folklore performances, music, mariachi and pinatas helped spread the significance of the day held in honoring and remembering the dead.
