On July 18th, 2025, Daley College buzzed with energy as more than 70 young people came together for the 2nd Annual Youth Summit—an event co-hosted by the Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP), Increase the Peace (ITP), GoodKids MadCity Englewood (GKMC-E), TGI Movement, and Global Love. The summit created an intentional space where youth could explore personal growth, financial empowerment, and creative expression.
The morning was dedicated to workshops that helped participants gain financial literacy skills and a deeper understanding of how money can be used to fuel their dreams. From learning how to budget and invest to conversations about passive income and generational wealth, youth were given the tools and space to think realistically—and boldly—about their financial futures.
“I never really thought about saving money to invest in something that could make me money while I sleep,” shared one youth participant. “Now I’m thinking about starting my own business one day or maybe getting property.”
The second half of the day invited youth to choose from a series of healing and hands-on breakout activities. These included spray painting, acrylic art therapy, healing through meditation, and a guided tour of Daley College’s state-of-the-art manufacturing and welding programs. Each option allowed youth to explore different forms of self-expression, stress relief, and future career opportunities.
Another young person reflected, “It felt good to just paint and let go. The art therapy made me think about how I hold things in—I want to find more ways to express myself like this.”
By the end of the day, youth walked away with more than just new information—they left with clarity, inspiration, and a renewed sense of possibility. This summit wasn’t just about education—it was about building a future with intention and resilience at the center.
