SWOP is dedicated to work based on equity, community wellness, and the long-term improvement of the quality of life for everyone in the community. One area of work that SWOP pursues is youth development, youth leadership, and creating safe spaces. Young people are looking to get out of the house and have fun, while feeling they are welcomed, heard, and treated with respect.
SWOP is partnering with Good Kids Mad City-Englewood and TGi Movement to do Friday Youth Kickbacks for young people. At the events, they enjoy food, games, and music in the company of their peers. These events take place every other Friday and the locations range from the SWOP office to TGi Movement’s space at Da Oasis. The focus of these events is to continue to build strong relationships with young people, give them opportunities to grow as leaders and present them with alternative ways to seek out a sense of community and friendship.
