Every year, CPS school communities across the city celebrate the start of a new school year with back-to-school events. These events are meant to begin preparing students, teachers, and parents for the school year to come. In our continued efforts to build strong relationships, schools and communities SWOP organizers and leaders participated in an array of back-to-school celebrations. SWOP offered resources such as PPE and COVID test kits from the Healthy Southwest team, provided parents with the chance to join the Parent Mentor program, as well as informing the community about the digital literacy classes that they can enroll at SWOP. These genuine types of engagement allow our families to grow their own power and skillset to take on the challenges of a new school year and together celebrate its success.
