New Americans Democracy Day
Saturday, June 28, 2008, 10:30 pm – 12:00 pm
New Americans Democracy Day is a national event celebrating immigrant voting power; announcing how that voting power will be used to win immigration reform and a path to citizenship for the undocumented; and a challenge to our nation to make Democracy real for the millions of immigrants who work and raise their families here and want to be full citizens of the U.S.
Immigrant Democracy Day will:
Announce local and national goals to sign up tens of thousands of new citizens for voter registration and voter turnout
Highlight efforts to sign up immigrants to become new US citizens
Recognize local and national leaders in the struggle for immigrant justice
Kick off a national “Boot Camp” for young organizers who will lead Get-Out-The-Vote efforts around the country
The event will take place at Foreman High School
3235 N. LeClaire Avenue in Chicago
